Beauty and the Beast

Since this is my first post on the ANDERSON blog, I’ll begin with a brief introduction.  My name is Kyl; I am a dancer and an artist.  A large part of my role at ANDERSON Advertising is working with Harkins Theatres, creating the newpaper ads, promoting new movies, and just generally getting heavily saturated with all things cinema.

This weekend is filled with new releases, but I’m most excited for the return of a classic.  This Friday Disney is rereleasing Beauty and the Beast in 3D, a staple film of my childhood, and still one of my favorites.

2012 Harkins Loyalty Package

Hey there folks,

Another update with our Harkins Loyalty campaign.  I was tasked to make several video ads for Harkins Theatres, which run both in their theaters and in the lobbies. These spots all had to complement our new campaign.  You can see the new campaign and the history of the Harkins Loyalty Cups here

We needed limited movement on these but we did want to show off all the different loyalty items Harkins offers.  We also had to keep the graphic novel “look,” to match the cups.

Check out the video below, featuring the T-Shirt, Cup, Tin, and Gift Card.  Thanks for watching!

A Walk through Harkins

This past weekend I walked into Harkins Tempe Marketplace 16 to catch a movie as I try to do on a regular basis, whatever that movie happens to be from comedy to thriller. With Harkins as an ongoing client of ours I have worked with them personally since I started here at ANDERSON Advertising in June of 2007.

In working with Harkins on a daily basis, the Anderson team, with me included, has designed everything from Concession Pricing Signs to Lobby One Sheet Posters to On Screen Advertising for the theatres. And that is just the tip of the iceberg, we have done it all.

Every time I walk into any Harkins theatres, my experience from purchasing my ticket to buying a drink and getting into the theater is always enjoyable. In addition, it is great to see so much of your own design work surrounding you.

From walking up to the box office until settling into my seat in the theater, I can walk by at least 20 to 30 print projects that I have worked on from concept to completion. Along with HDN’s (Harkins Digital Network) and other motion graphic videos that JJ our Motion Designer has poured himself into. Being able to see projects come in from Harkins and work on them for weeks or sometimes months, then seeing them placed within the theatres is definitely a sense of pride for both me and the entire design team at Anderson.

One project that always stands out in my mind that we have done for Harkins for years would have to be their Yearly Loyalty Campaign (picture below is of this years loyalty, I can’t slip and put what this next years looks like……Sorry). For the last couple of years I have worked on the design process for Loyalty and every time I see someone with a Loyalty cup outside the theater or even at their house it is great to think that a project that you had a part of is such a big part of the movie going community in the Valley.

Next time you are in any Harkins Theater stop for a minute, take a look around and I bet you will be able to spot ANDERSON’s design work.
